SEAoAL is partnering with the Alabama Center for Architecture for the 2nd Year in a row for the Building with Bricks.

The event runs from March 23rd - 29th (Saturday, then Tuesday-Friday).  There are mid-day timeslots for engineers and architects to fill, and the sign-up sheet can be found here: https://www.alcfa.org/event/building-with-bricks-exhibit-2/

SEAoAL would love to see a strong showing of volunteers, and organizers are aiming to have at least one engineer and one architect at each session.  We need your help to represent our profession.

ALSO – This event is free to the public, if you know of any aspiring architects / engineers who might be interested in attending, please feel free to spread the word!

Let’s SHAKE it for the kids!!

SEAoAL is participating in the 13th Annual Engineering Showcase at McWane Science Center. The event is geared toward students of all ages and schools. Typically, the students are K-5th grade. McWane expects around 1,000 kids, teachers, and chaperones.

Other engineering firms, organizations, and university groups will be participating as well. Lunch is provided for volunteers and they offer parking tokens, and tickets to the IMAX film, Cities of the Future. This is a great opportunity to inspire future engineers and meet other professionals in the industry! Students will build LEGO structures, and test them to see how they behave under “seismic” loading.

The event is on Friday, February 23rd from 9:00am – 2:00pm at the McWane Science Center (200 19th St N, Birmingham, AL 35203).
